As we gather this Memorial Day Holiday at backyard barbeques, parks and beaches let’s remember why it is that we have this day:
To Honor All Fallen Heroes and Veterans who have sacrificed for the sake of our freedom.
The holiday began after the Civil War, at that time it was known as “Decoration Day.” Originally founded to honor the soldiers who died in the Civil War, today, Memorial Day is a day to honor all Americans who have died in military service.
Whenever our nation, or the world, has asked ordinary men and women to do extraordinary things our Veterans have heeded the call unselfishly.
Let us also give thanks and appreciation to the families of our fallen heroes and veterans, for without their enduring love and support their task would not have been possible…….this day belongs to them as well.
We, as a nation, owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to our veterans. A debt that should be acknowledged to them not only on this day but everyday………every day that our children go to school, every day that we worship freely, every day that we are free to pursue happiness.
God bless all of our Fallen Heroes, Veterans and their families.
God bless you and God bless the United States of America.
